Started in 2011 with the holding of the first to celebrate the 60th anniversary of recognition of the Danubian breed of horses, the national exhibitions are now an integral part of the activities of the National Horse Breeding Association. They are an excellent form of promotion of horse breeding as a way to resolve issues concerning the level and quality of selection, demonstrated by the best breed`s representatives.
Part of the purpose of these events which are held in different regions of the country, is from one hand the promotion of breeds and from the other through expert evaluation to show the quality of the different breeds of horses. The exhibitions are organized throughout a project won by the Association and funded by the State Fund "Agriculture", The Ministry of Agriculture and Food and partially funded by the Association itself. Already a tradition of the NHBA activities they have become a tool in solving problems of the Bulgarian horse breeding, which convincingly proved a positive effect.
There is a code for the conduction of exhibitions in horse breeding for each breed which regulates the choice of the selection committee and the announcement of the champion of the breed - stallion and mare mother. Then in the chart follow the first, second and third place in their respective categories - stallions, mothers mares and young foals.
